Kitchen Cart

Our butcher block counter tops came in 8 foot and 12 foot lengths.  One side of our kitchen is 8 feet 3 inches.  Two years ago when we chopped off the extra I got the idea to make a kitchen cart.  This week the project was finished.  It features wheels on two legs for easy movement when we want it to move; rails to hold our recycle bin; and some extra height for my comfort.  The scrap as a result of cutting down the butcher block was turned into cutting boards.

CSA Week 1

The farm across the street from my office has a farm stand that offers CSA subscriptions.    I can watch the food grow and it’s super easy to pick up each week.  Here’s the haul from week 1.photo 1

That’s a bushel of lettuce, kale, spinach, bok choy and scallions.  That’s a lot of leaves to eat.  They also threw in some flowers this week.

What do you do with 2 foot long scallions? put them in a vase.

Lots of greens to eat means big salads.

Thanks Fair Weather Acres!  We are excited for the rest of the growing season.
