End of Maple Season

We wrapped up maple season on April 5 because of weather and sap boiling fatigue.

Numbers for the season:

12 1/2 pint jars of syrup

35 gallons of sap

80 lb of propane

We beat the Connecticut sugar bush price price for 1/2 pints so we are likely to do it again.  Next year I’m going to look for a more efficient evaporator because it took forever to boil and I will need to be able to finish a boil at nights after work.

The day after maple season, I planted four raspberry canes on the side of the house.
